Occupation of Tower Hamlets Council Chambers

27 April 1987.Occupation of Tower Hamlets Council Chambers by demonstration over eviction of homeless Bengali families from bed & breakfast hostels. Protesters picketed the meeting but were angered by Liberal councillors preventing discussion of the issue and occupied the chamber. Police were called and violently evicted the protesters together with opposition councillors and journalists.
