Canterbury Cathedral 12/4/98.Easter Sunday sermon from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Carey, disrupted by protesters from Outrage, the gay rights pressure group.Outrage activists stormed the pulpit during the sermon and their leader, Peter Tatchell, took the microphone to deliver a speech on homophobia in the church. Tatchell drew the congregation's attention to Dr Carey's opposition to equal civil rights, equal age of consent, ban on gay foster parents and endorsement of discrimination in the workplace. Police and church officials then moved in and dragged the demonstrators away. Peter Tatchell was arrested.
