Homeless people line up for their Christmas dinner at the Crisis at Christmas charity shelter in a disused church in Stepney, London. Christmas 1978. As many hostels close over the Christmas period, Crisis set up shelters in disused churches, feeding and caring for many hundreds of homeless people over the holiday.
More than 600 people sleep on mattresses each night on the floor of this disused church.
