London has always been a magnet for the homeless, the dispossessed, the lost and the angry people struggling to stay afloat. In the backwash of Thatcher’s rapidly yuppifying Britain, the numbers of homeless people on the streets grew rapidly while at the same time cuts in funding for support of the poor and in the funding of low-cost accommodation boosted the numbers of those living on the streets.
